Supporting Westlake United Churches Trust
Westlake United Church Trust (WUCT) is a registered NPO (PBO certified) since 2002 and are currently supporting the Westlake community through their HOME/COMMUNITY BASED CARE PROGRAM, in partnership with Department of Health (DoH).
They provide a FREE service caring for sick people in their homes in Westlake and surrounding areas. Given their track record, and as per DoH request, they’ve recently taken over management of a further vast area covering Strandfontein, Grassy Park, Retreat, Lavender Hill, Pelican Park, Parkwood Estate, Jim se Bos (Phillippi), Phumlani, Skaapkraal, Egoli, Sewende Laan, Lotus River, Ottery and Wynberg.
Altogether they now employ 10 Professional Nurses and 133 Community Healthcare Workers in Westlake and the above areas. At present, they attend to over 1500 patients per month in their homes. They carry out between 10 000 and 20 000 visits per month.

*Current needs*
We would like to urgently request funds for masks, hand sanitizers, bleach, soap, toiletries and personal protective equipment.
We would also like to distribute food parcels to the needy families during this crisis, and therefore require additional funding in order to buy non-perishable food.

Supporting each other
CHS has established the CHS Solidarity Fund in order for people to contribute towards supporting the most vulnerable in our own communities during this season on Covid-19.  These funds are managed separately to those for CHS itself.  A dedicated CHS team, the Solidarity Fund Group, collates and assess the needs in our community each week and priorities those households most requiring assistance.
